Converse University head women’s basketball coach Samantha Davis announced the addition of Tamia Ridley to the team’s coaching staff. Ridley is a former professional and Division II basketball player and alumnae of Notre Dame College.
“She’s had a very successful career including playing professionally overseas. She brings a lot of experience that will help our post play and bring a lot of energy to the program,” stated Davis regarding her new assistant coach. “We are excited to welcome Tamia to Converse.”
Ridley spent four years with the Notre Dame College Falcons. She recorded 574 rebounds (388 defensive, 186 offensive), 549 points, 67 assists, 53 steals, and 36 blocks during her time with the Falcons. After graduating from Notre Dame College in May 2022, Ridley had a short stint in club and high school coaching. In September 2022, she began playing professionally for Sporting Clube de Braga in Braga, Portugal.
During her time with the club, she served as a youth mentor, club representative, and team captain. With Ridley on the team, Sporting Clube de Braga posted a 13-5 record. Following her time with the club, Ridley came back to her hometown of Massillon, Ohio to open her own basketball training facility: T’s Elite Squad.
While running T’s Elite Squad, Ridley trained basketball athletes of various ages, helped improve the athletes in all stages of the game, set pricing and made schedules amongst other responsibilities.
“I’m really excited about joining the staff this year. I really see our potential for what we are gonna do this season and I’m happy that I’m a part of it!” added Ridley about her hiring. “Thank you to Coach Sam for believing in what I can bring to the program.”
Davidson, Ridley and the entire Converse women’s basketball team tip-off the season on Friday, Nov. 10 as they take on Lincoln Memorial in Bristol, Tennessee as part of the Conference Crossover hosted by King University.
