Michael Phelps is no longer the head women’s basketball coach at King University (TN). There has not been an official announcement made yet by the school, but Phelps has been removed from the King website, and assistant coach Peyton Papenburg is now listed as the interim head coach.
Phelps took over as the interim head coach for the 2021-22 season, and had that tag removed prior to the 2022-23 season. During his tenure at King, Phelps put together a 25-60 (.294) overall record, including a 3-26 (2-16) mark this year.
Before taking over the women’s program, Phelps spent three seasons as an assistant with the men’s program at King.
More on this once King issues a statement.
