Concordia College Hires Coach

Christie Tomasino has officially been named the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Concordia as announced by Athletics Director Ivan Marquez.

"From the very beginning all the student-athletes, staff, and fellow coaches in the CACC noticed a special, ‘spark’ and desire to succeed in Christie," Marquez said. "Concordia (N.Y.) prides itself in discovering and nurturing new talent so we are more than happy to offer Coach Tomasino the opportunity to reach her potential and hopefully lead our Women’s Basketball program to new heights. We are grateful for her commitment and wish her the very best as she takes the helm of our Lady Clippers," concluded Marquez.

Tomasino served as the Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Concordia during most of the 2013-14 season after serving as an assistant coach since the 2012-13 season. As an assistant coach Christie worked on conditioning the guards, assist with game strategy, statistics and recruiting coordination.

"I want to thank Ivan for this opportunity to lead the women’s basketball program into the future," explained Tomasino. "He took a chance on me to be an assistant three years ago and I look forward to starting a new chapter in my coaching career. I am really excited to begin the new season and get the women’s basketball program on the right track."

Tomasino was a member of the Pace University Setters for two seasons. At which time she earned recognition on the Northeast-10’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2007-08 season.

Christie hales from Staten Island, N.Y. where she attended St John’s Villa Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Pace University in 2010.
