Collin Lanam Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Maryville University (MO)

Maryville University Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Marcus Manning announced that Collin Lanam has been selected as head women’s basketball coach. Lanam spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach for the Saints men’s basketball team.

“Based on Collin’s experience at Maryville and within the Great Lakes Valley Conference, he is the right person to guide the women’s basketball program,” Manning said. “Collin is a bright, up-and-coming, young professional in this industry who can engage and lead today’s student-athlete. I’m excited for him to receive this opportunity.”

“I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to become the head coach of the Maryville women’s basketball team,” Lanam said. “I have to thank Dr. Mark Lombardi and Mr. Marcus Manning for giving me the chance to lead a great group of student-athletes. My staff and I will continue to build upon the culture and tradition that exists here at Maryville. I look forward to guiding these young women to another successful year academically, socially and athletically.”

Lanam has coached four All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selections at Maryville and helped 20 student-athletes earn GLVC All-Academic honors. He oversaw the squads that earned consecutive National Association of Basketball Coaches Academic Team Excellence awards in 2015 and 2016. Lanam been a part of 35 victories for the Saints men’s team during his time at Maryville.

Prior to Maryville, Lanam worked at the University of Indianapolis. He assisted the Greyhound program in all facets, including scouting, recruiting, on-court instruction, video coordination and summer camps. During his time with the Greyhounds, Lanam helped the team reach three straight NCAA Tournaments. The program was ranked for 10 consecutive weeks in the NABC Division II Top 25, and was as high as No. 5 in January 2013. At UIndy, Lanam coached two All-Americans and four All-Conference selections.

A native of Crawfordsville, Ind., Lanam graduated from Wabash College in 2006.  He served as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Crawfordsville High School for the 2005-06 season. He also was an assistant for the post-graduate team at Lee (Maine) Academy for the 2006-07 campaign. Lanam worked as the graduate manager for the men’s basketball team at Southern Illinois before assuming his position at Indianapolis. He has worked numerous basketball camps across the country, including Reebok and Nike camps, as well as prominent schools like Purdue, Baylor, Texas and Southern Methodist. Lanam earned his master’s in business administration from UIndy in 2012.
