“We’re thrilled to welcome Patrick Cofffey to Las Positas College as our new head coach,” said athletic director Giacomazzi. “He brings strong leadership, a tireless work ethic and a clear vision for student-athlete development. We are confident he will make an immediate impact on our women’s program and are very excited about the direction of Hawks women’s basketball under his leadership.”
As the lead assistant coach, Coffey gained experience in all aspects of the women’s basketball program. He is well regarded for his attention to detail in film study, player development, and scouting reports.
When asked about his immediate thoughts Coach Coffey replied, “I am ecstatic to be the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Las Positas College! This school has the foundation to produce high academic and elite athletic programs. I view myself as a life-long learner which aligns closely with the mission of Las Positas College. I plan to put together a Women’s Basketball program that this community can be proud of. My goal for our student-athletes is to help them develop on and off the court, win at a high level, and to put them in the best position to transfer and achieve their dreams.”
“I would also like to thank Coach Michelle Warner and everyone at the College of San Mateo. The relationships I made there in four seasons are truly special. I feel well prepared for this new challenge because of what I learned at CSM.”
Before starting his coaching career, Coffey played basketball collegiately for the Colby-Sawyer Chargers in New London, NH. In his time playing at Colby-Sawyer College, Coffey was named to two All-Conference teams. He scored 1,580 career points for the Chargers making him seventh all time in school history in that category. Coffey was a two-year captain for both men’s basketball and volleyball, which he also played at Colby-Sawyer.
After graduating from Colby-Sawyer College with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, he looked to continue his playing career while also pursuing a master’s degree at Bournemouth University in Bournemouth, England. Despite the cancelation of the season due to the United Kingdom’s Covid Restrictions, Coffey still graduated with a master’s in Sport Management.
