Christy Jordan Joins Saint Louis University Staff as Director of Basketball Operations

Saint Louis University head women’s basketball coach Rebecca Tillett has named Christy Jordan the team’s director of basketball operations.

“Christy is one of those people who can handle managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously while maintaining a calm demeanor within the fast-paced environment of college athletics,” Tillett said. “She is committed to empowering women and took on multiple leadership roles at our previous institution together, including spearheading voter registration initiatives and mentoring a group of first-generation college freshmen.

“I am looking forward to continuing our working relationship as we strive for excellence of any kind on and off the court while caring deeply about the women we lead,” Tillett said.

“I am blessed for the opportunity to continue my journey at a world class institution such as SLU,” Jordan said. “I am fortunate to be given another opportunity to continue my career with an influential leader like Coach Tillett. I would like to give a special thanks to Chris May and Dr. Janet Oberle for allowing me to be a part of the Billiken family. They are determined to give all of the athletic programs here at SLU the resources needed to build a winning culture on and off the playing field.

“We are excited to help elevate the women’s basketball program to even more success by educating, competing and building community,” Jordan said. “Go Billikens!”

Jordan spent the last three seasons as the director of basketball operations for Tillett’s staff at Longwood University, where the team posted a conference championship, the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance and the Lancers’ first NCAA Tournament victory.

Winners in 15 of their final 17 games this past season, the Lancers turned in their best overall and league records since joining the Big South, finishing 22-12 overall and 15-3 in the conference. Five Lancers earned Big South postseason accolades for a second consecutive season, including the league’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

The 22-12 overall record stands as Longwood’s best in its Division I era, a mark that beats the 16-13 record of the 2007-08 team in the Lancers’ first Division I season.

Jordan graduated from Old Dominion with a degree in criminal justice in 2019, where she served as a four-year manager of the women’s basketball program. She was the head manager for an Old Dominion team that went 21-11 overall in 2018-19 en route to a bid into the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

While at ODU, Jordan was responsible for the supervision of members of the scout team and other managers for practices. Her responsibilities also included handling of film equipment along with editing game and practice footage. In addition, she assisted the director of operations with travel plans and helped with summer camps.
