Vermont Women’s Basketball Coach Chris Day announced his resignation today.
“I am so grateful for my time being the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Vermont, but I have to do what’s best for my family, and take advantage of an opportunity which allows me to bring them back to the Philadelphia area.” Day said in a statement. “I want to thank President Sullivan and Jeff Schulman for giving me this incredible chance to coach at such a prestigious University. Even more importantly, I want to thank Catamount Country for all of your support during my time here. I wish the program nothing but the best as it is set up to start to ascend in the America East Conference.”
Day had compiled a 17-42 (11-20 in America East) in his two seasons at Vermont.
Earlier this month, the Burlington Free Press reported that Vermont was investigating “verbal conduct” of Day.
UVM has appointed Alisa Kresge has the interim coach for the 2018-19. She has served as an assistant the past two years.
