CCNY completes staff

The City College of New York head women’s basketball coach Jamie Angeli has completed his staff for the 2014-15 season with the addition of Naomi Augustin as an assistant coach.

For the past four seasons, Augustin was an assistant coach at her Alma mater, Valley Stream Central High School in Valley Stream, NY. Since September of 2010, she has also been the head coach of the Long Island Lightning AAU 10th Grade girls’ basketball traveling team.

"The minute I started exploring Naomi as a potential coaching candidate I knew she would be the perfect fit for our program," stated Angeli. "Her playing and coaching experiences have prepared her well to contribute to our program immediately."

A standout player at Valley Stream High School, Augustin went on to enjoy a successful four-year basketball career at division one Wagner College in Staten Island, NY (2006-10).

"Her experience as a student-athlete at the division one level will be a great benefit to our players," added Angeli. "Our players deserve the best opportunity to grow and develop as both people and student-athletes and with the addition of Naomi Augustin we have assembled the necessary parts on our staff to make this a special season. This is a big day and an important hire for CCNY women’s basketball."

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Wagner in 2010 along with a minor in Psychology. Augustin is employed full time as a preschool teacher at Tykes Early Childhood Learning Center in Lynbrook, NY.
