Carleton College head women’s basketball coach Cassie Kosiba announced the hiring of Chris Dalhed as assistant coach for the Knights.

Dalhed is very familiar with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), having spent the last five years as an assistant at the University of St. Thomas and helping guide the Tommies to one of the most impressive stretches in recent MIAC history. During the five-season span from 2008-2013, the Tommies recorded the highest winning percentage among MIAC opponents (.788) while capturing three MIAC Playoff titles and two regular-season championships. During the 2011-12 season, St. Thomas finished with a perfect 22-0 record during the conference regular season and finished the year with an overall record of 31-2, including a trip to the semifinal round of the NCAA tournament and third-place finish nationally.

"We are very excited to have an experienced coach and recruiter like Chris joining our women’s basketball family here at Carleton,” stated Kosiba. “He is very well respected in the MIAC and the women’s basketball community.

“Chris will not only be a great addition to our basketball program, but to the PEAR department, and the greater Carleton community as well. Our coaching staff and players look forward to working alongside Chris in the upcoming season."

In his five seasons at St. Thomas, Dalhed coached 11 MIAC All-Conference selections, as well as three D3Hoops.com All-Region selections, one NCAA West-Region Freshman of the Year and one D3Hoops.com All-America selection.

“I am excited for the opportunity to work with Coach Kosiba, our student athletes, and the entire Carleton College family. The high quality academic and athletic environment here at Carleton is widely known, and I look forward to representing the College both on the floor and on the recruiting trail,” stated Dalhed.

In addition to his coaching duties, Dalhed will also assist in the Sports Information Department at Carleton.

Dalhed graduated from St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1979 and was a four-year letter winner as a member of the Tommie baseball team. Dalhed and his wife Kay reside in Rosemount and have three adult children, daughters Lynn and Jennifer and a son Steve, who serves as an assistant track and field coach at Carleton.
