SIUE Director of Athletics Tim Hall has announced that the University will pursue a change in leadership in the women’s basketball program.

“These decisions are never easy,” Hall said. “Ultimately, the program was not progressing the way we had hoped it would. We felt that a change in leadership was in the best interest of our student-athletes.”

Hired as the fifth head coach in program history in June 2012, Paula Buscher led SIUE to six appearances in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and one national postseason appearance, the Women’s Basketball Invitational in 2018.

“I thank Coach Buscher for her service to SIUE and the women’s basketball program,” Hall added. “We wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

The University will begin an immediate national search for the new head coach.
