The IUPUI Athletics Department and Director of Athletics have announced that head women’s basketball coach Kate Bruce has earned a contract extension, keeping her on the IUPUI sidelines through 2027. Bruce, in her first season in 2022-23, piloted the Jaguars to a 17-13 mark and a 13-7 record in Horizon League play. Included in her win total was a victory over BIG EAST foe Butler, as well as victories over Northern Illinois, Ohio and Southern Illinois in non-conference play.
“Kate exemplifies the culture of winning and success we are looking for in a head coach, and we are thrilled to have her continue to lead the program,” Bosso said.
Her 17 wins this past season were the most by a first-year coach in the IUPUI women’s program’s history.
“I’m very appreciative of the ongoing support from the IUPUI administration and look forward to a continued bright future together,” Bruce said.
Bruce has since retooled the roster for the 2023-24 season, introducing 10 newcomers for the upcoming campaign to join All-Horizon League performer Jazmyn Turner. She’s collected 151 career wins, having gone 134 -43 in six seasons at Walsh University before joining the Jaguars prior to last season.
