Brown women’s basketball’s head coach Monique LeBlanc has announced the hiring of Anh-Dao Tran as the team’s Operations Coordinator on Monday (Sept. 20).
Tran joins the program after spending the last two years at the Besant Hill School of Happy Valley in Ojai, California, as the Athletic Director as well as a math teacher with the school. As the athletic director, Tran administered eight varsity sports and mentored 24 coaches. She also served as the head boy’s varsity basketball coach in 2019 and the women’s varsity basketball coach in 2020.
“We are thrilled to add Anh-Dao to the Women’s Basketball family,” said LeBlanc. “Anh-Dao has great experience as a collegiate and professional basketball player, and has a natural basketball IQ. Her experience both as an administrator, and in skill development, give her an expansive skill set for immediate success in this role.”
Tran played college basketball at both the University of New Haven from 2010-13 and Adelphi University from 2013-15. Tran finished her career with over 1,400 career points and was named the team MVP at New Haven for two seasons. Tran was also named WBCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2014-15.
She was named the Northeast-10 Conference Championships MVP in 2015 and was named to the All-Championship Team the same year. Tran was named Second Team All-Conference in 2014-15 and led the team to its first conference championship in 2014-15. Tran was named Third Team All-Conference in 2012-13 and to the All-Rookie Team in 2010-11.
Tran played professionally for a year in Germany, playing for PS Karlsruhe Lions and Rhein-Main Baskets in the Damen Bundesliga European League.
