Bristol Community College head women’s basketball coach, Jay Hanley announced that Ashley Brown is joining the Bayhawks program as an assistant coach. Brown is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with a focus on Leadership and Management.
Ashley excelled and received many honors on the hardwood at UMD. She was a four year starter for Coach Matt Ducharme’s Corsairs and is the 8th all time in school scoring with 1,116 points. Ashley’s honors as a player are numerous. She was voted All Rookie Team by Little East con-ference coaches after her first season. She earned all tournament teams honors for three sea-sons and was chosen as Little East Conference player of the week for 4 different weeks. She also was voted to the regular season All Conference second team and All Conference first team at the end of two seasons.
Bristol head coach Jay Hanley stated “ We are really excited to add Ashley to our Bayhawk staff. Ashley is a talented player and ultimate competitor who demonstrated perseverance, sacrifice and grit during her great playing career. I can’t wait to see how Ashley will use her strengths to connect with our Bayhawk players to continue their development on the court, in the classroom and in our community.”
In Coach Hanley’s 1st season at the helm, the Bristol women’s program set a number of new team and individual records for wins, points scored in a game, points in a season and scoring average per game. The Bayhawks ended with the best record in school history and made it to the Region XXI semifinals where they lost to top 10 nationally ranked Massasoit Warriors.
