Loyola University AD Steve Watson released the following statement today:

“Sheryl Swoopes is no longer serving as the women’s basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago. A search for her replacement will begin immediately. Loyola thanks Sheryl for her service to the women’s basketball program.”

Swoopes has been the subject of an investigation by the university after players accused her of mistreatment earlier this past spring. In her three seasons at Loyola, Swoopes compiles a 31-62 record. The three-time Olympic gold medalist was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame this year.
