Saint Francis University Director of Athletics Jim Brazill has announced Chynna Bozeman’s promotion to women’s basketball head coach. She becomes the ninth head coach as the Red Flash enters its 58th season of women’s basketball in 2025-26.
Bozeman came to Loretto last season as an assistant coach and helped the Red Flash to its most overall wins (11) and Northeast Conference (NEC) victories (9) since 2020-21. The team also hosted its first NEC Tournament game since 2019-20.
“I am excited to welcome a new era in Red Flash basketball with the announcement of Chynna Bozeman as the next women’s basketball head coach at Saint Francis University,” said Brazill. “Chynna has a vision for the program that I am confident will lead the Red Flash back to championship basketball and put our student-athletes in a position to win on the court and academically in the classroom. With Coach Bozeman at the helm, I am thrilled to see where this program can go.”
She takes over one of NEC’s most storied women’s basketball programs with 12 NEC Tournament titles and 396 conference wins. Saint Francis heads into the 2025-26 season looking to become the first team in league history to reach 400 wins in NEC play, with the upcoming season being the 40th season in the NEC for the Flash.

Before coming to Loretto, Bozeman served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Morehead State, for one season. The Eagles went 15-15 overall and 10-8 in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in 2023-24, helping her alma mater to its best overall and league mark since the 2018-19 season.
Bozeman spent 12 years as a player development coach before she returned to her alma mater, which included two stints as a travel club head coach and two stints as a high school basketball assistant. She also worked and developed training programs for Division I athletes throughout the 12 years.
Bozeman was a standout player at Morehead State from 2007-11, leaving as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,170 career points. She still ranks among the top 20 scorers in OVC history. Along with being the all-time leading scorer at Morehead State, she ranks first in steals (251), 3-point field goals (377), and sits in the top 10 for field goals made (706), free throws made (381), and assists (394). Bozeman is the only player in Eagles history to hit 100 triples in a season (121, 2009-10; 104; 2010-11), recorded a program-record 95 steals in 2010-11, and registered two of the top point totals in single-season history (662, 2010-11; 648, 2009-10). She scored a career-high 39 points against Murray State on March 2, 2010, in the OVC Tournament and against Jacksonville State on January 8, 2011, the third-most points in Morehead State’s single-game history.
She helped the Eagles to a 71-54 overall record and a 47-26 mark in league play. In her final two seasons, the team went 43-21 overall and 27-8 in OVC play to mark the best two seasons for the best two years in the NCAA era in team history, and she was named the OVC Player of the Year in both campaigns. The 22 wins in 2009-10 are the second most in program history.
Bozeman, inducted into the Morehead State Hall of Fame in 2022, had her No. 2 jersey retired on Senior Night on February 12, 2011.
Bozeman earned her bachelor’s degree in university studies from Morehead State in 2011 and her Master’s Degree in communications from her alma mater in 2012.
