Eastern Illinois women’s basketball head coach Matt Bollant has completed his coaching staff for the 2020-21 season with the hiring of veteran coach Kevin Templeton. Templeton will start with the Panthers on July 15 joining a team that posted a 19-12 record last season and placed fourth in the OVC regular season standings.
Templeton comes to EIU with a wealth of experience at both the college and high school levels. He was the athletic director, head basketball and head baseball coach at Tennessee Temple University for eight seasons twice winning South Region Coach of the Year honors while posting a career record of 125-73. His 2003 team posted a 30-4 record as they won the NCCAA National Championship.
As a veteran high school coach he has had stops at Temple Christian School (Lima, Ohio), Tennessee Temple Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Soddy Daisy High School (Tennessee) with more than 25 years of experience. With more than 300 career wins to his credit at the prep level, Templeton has guided his teams to two TSSAA State Tournament appearances including a TSSAA State Runner-Up finish in 1998. He was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Class A State Coach of the Year in 1992. At Soddy Daisy HS he led the team to a District Championship while adding two Girls State Golf Championships. At Temple Christian School he won five straight Christian Schools of Ohio State Basketball titles.
Templeton holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Tennessee Temple University.
