Blackburn College has hired Allen Dehority as the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Dehority returns to his alma mater after a stint as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Finlandia University.
A 2008 graduate of Blackburn College, returns to Carlinville with a history of improving basketball programs. While coaching the men’s program at Finlandia, Dehority’s team ended a 49-game losing streak and developing a program that ended up in the top 20 in a handful of statistical categories. Prior to becoming the men’s coach, Dehority served as the assistant women’s coach at Finlandia where the team set a school record for victories in a season.
From 2012-16, Dehority served as the head coach at Notre Dame of Maryland University where his team ended a 45-game losing streak and in his final season there the team had the best record in nearly a decade. From 2009-2012, Dehority served as an assistant coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he helped the team earn its fourth twenty-win season and ninth appearance in the NCAA tournament.
“We are excited to have Allen return to his alma mater to begin work on improving our women’s program, his familiarity with Blackburn and his experience in improving programs makes him at great fit,” said Mike Neal, Interim Athletic Director.
Dehority is married to Mindy and they have three children, Sloane who is 3 and 1 year old twins Marcus and Gemma.
