Bethel WBB head coach Herbrechtsmeyer to miss remainder of season due to health issues

Bethel University head women’s basketball coach Jon Herbrechtsmeyer has announced he will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season due to health-related issues after consultation with family and professional health care providers.

“I am thankful to be in the care of a team of great doctors,” said Herbrechtsmeyer. “I am very disappointed that my current condition will force me to miss the remainder of the season. However, I am excited that my doctors expect me to make a full and complete recovery and look forward to returning to the sideline next season. I expect that the work that my staff will do this season will make our program even stronger in the future seasons.”

For the remainder of the season, assistant coach Scott Lauinger has been elevated to serve as the interim head coach while assistants Micaella Sipe and John Buck will take on additional duties.

“We will obviously miss Herbie while he is recovering from surgery, but I’m thankful that he got checked out and will be able to have a complete recovery,” said Director of Athletics Greg Peterson. “We are praying for Herbie and his family during the recovery time and are excited to have Herbie back when he is able to return.”
