University of Hawai’i athletics director David Matlin announced Thursday a two-year contract extension for women’s basketball head coach Laura Beeman.
“Laura has consistently elevated our women’s basketball program during her time here,” said Matlin. “She’s built a championship program that embodies our department’s one percent better mentality. With the support of alumni, fans, and her student-athletes, our Rainbow Wahine basketball program continues to be in her great hands for years to come.”
Beeman’s original contract took her to the end of the 2023-24 campaign. With her two-year extension, she will remain at the helm of the program to the end of the 2025-26 season.
In her 10 seasons as UH head coach, Beeman has built a 162-133 record, captured two regular-season conference titles, two conference championships, and earned five trips to the postseason. UH is coming off an historic 2021-22 season in which the Rainbow Wahine captured both the Big West Conference regular-season and tournament championship, a first in program history.
In addition to Beeman’s contract extension, three other moves have been made within her staff. Veteran assistant coach Alex Delanain will have a title change as he will be appointed as the associate head coach.
After spending seven seasons with the ‘Bows’ as the director of operations, Teneshia Ruff has departed from the program to pursue other career opportunities outside collegiate athletics. Jason Hill, a four-year veteran of the program, has been elevated from director of player development to director of operations.
Also, returning to the ‘Bows as the newest staff member will be alum Savannah Reier.
The former junior college transfer spent two seasons as a Rainbow Wahine player, before graduating in 2020. Reier will take over Hill’s previous role as the director of player development.
