University of Cincinnati women’s basketball head coach Katrina Merriweather announced the addition of graduate assistant Sofia Gritzali, who played for the Bearcats from 2019-23, on Sunday.
“Sofia will be a great addition to the program,” Merriweather said. “Our paths cross in Greece a year ago; her spirit and her passion for being a Bearcat was obvious. Her time and experience as a student-athlete here will benefit our players tremendously. Everyone I spoke with loves Sofia and knows that she has a bright future in coaching.”
Gritzali will assist the staff with a number of operations and coaching responsibilities while completing her graduate degree in business economics.
The Thessaloniki, Greece native was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team all four years and was the department’s ONE TEAM Student-Athlete award recipient in 2022.
Gritzali graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Cincinnati in May 2023.
