The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has officially begun the search for next head women’s basketball coach.
“We have officially begun a national search for our next head women’s basketball coach. During the hiring process, our selection committee intends to move swiftly and with great analysis in order to identify the right person to lead Hawk women’s basketball,” says Vice President of Athletics & Recreation Tara A. Owens. “We are looking for a leader with a focus on the well-being and success of our student-athletes. Our goal remains steadfast in positioning our student-athletes to be successful in community, classroom and in competition.”
The Hawks finished with a 15-15 overall mark this past season with a 8-6 mark in MEAC play under veteran coach Fred Batchelor. Serving as head coach since 2004, Batchelor had posted an overall winning percentage of .377 with one appearance in the MEAC tournament final while at UMES.
