Ball State Extends Sallee Through 2019-20

Ball State director of intercollegiate athletics Mark Sandy announced today that head women’s basketball coach Brady Sallee has been given a contract extension through the 2019-20 season. This marks the second time in three years that Sallee has been awarded a contract extension.

“I would like to thank President Ferguson and our Director of Athletics, Mark Sandy, for their continued support of our entire women’s basketball program at Ball State,” Sallee said. “Our first three years have been tremendous and I look forward to the future with great excitement and anticipation. I love the kids I get to coach every day and am thankful that I will continue to have this opportunity for years to come!”

Sallee, who completed his third season at Ball State, becomes the only head coach in program history to take the Cardinals to three straight Women’s National Invitation postseason tournaments. In addition, Sallee is only the second head coach in program history to have three consecutive winning seasons — 17-16 (2012-13), 18-17 (2013-14) and 17-14 (2014-15). The last time it happened was from 2004-07 under former head coach Tracy Roller.

The Cardinals ended the season with a 17-14 overall mark and a 13-5 Mid-American Conference ledger. Ball State became postseason eligible after clinching the MAC West Division title outright for the first time since 2008-09. The Cardinals earned a bye as the second seed in the MAC Tournament and advanced straight to the semifinals.

Sallee has amassed a 188-142 career coaching record, including his eight years as the head basketball coach at Eastern Illinois.
