Pacific women’s basketball head coach Bradley Davis announced the addition of Amanda Brown to his coaching staff as an assistant. Brown joins the Tigers from Gonzaga, where she served as Director of Basketball Operations from 2014 to 2017.
“Amanda truly rose to the top during our search for a new Assistant Coach. I firmly believe that she is going to be a great fit for our staff, our team and our University. Her experience having worked for and with great coaches and programs, her reputation amongst those in the profession along with her desire to be here at Pacific made Amanda the ideal coach for us. I’m thrilled to welcome her back to Northern California. I know Amanda will connect quickly with our current team, and I look forward to introducing her to our extended Pacific family.”
“I am immensely grateful to Coach Davis and his staff for welcoming me to the Tiger Family and providing me the opportunity to work with such talented student-athletes. I believe in the culture and values that Coach Davis, his staff, and the athletes have established here and I am thrilled by the opportunity to continue to build on that foundation to help our program find even greater success on and off the court.” Brown said.
As the Director of Operations, she worked with the Bulldogs’ coaching staff for travel, scheduling, game film, scout preparation, and practice preparation. Brown served as Director of Basketball Operations for two stints at Gonzaga, the first coming in in 2009-10. She was also the women’s basketball camp coordinator.
In between her two stints in Spokane, Brown was the Director of Basketball Operations and Camp Director for Santa Clara University women’s basketball from 2010 to 2013. At SCU, Brown assisted with game film, film exchange, and analyzed statistics. She managed logistical and administrative details for game travel, recruiting, marketing and all fundraising efforts. Brown was promoted to an assistant coach in 2013. As an assistant, she worked on player development with the guards. She handled the team scouting reports, and was integral in recruiting. While at Santa Clara, the Broncos won over 40 games.
Brown played women’s basketball at Gonzaga, winning three West Coast Conference titles from 2007 to 2009 (before the Tigers joined the WCC). She was a key reserve and defensive specialist for the Bulldogs. In 2008-09, she earned an athletic scholarship after being a walk-on, and was the team’s co-captain. Brown was a member of the first GU team to advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2007, and the first team to advance to the second round in 2009. She went to Gonzaga after graduating from St. Francis High School in Sacramento.
Brown was a coxswain for the Gonzaga men’s rowing team in 2007. She helped guide the Zags’ crew team to nationals. While at GU, she was a member of Gonzaga Athletes Mentoring for Excellence (G.A.M.E.), and was a coach for the Spokane Midnight Basketball Association. She graduated from GU in 2009 with a bachelor of arts in English. Brown received her master’s degree in organizational leadership in 2011.
