Alverson, Wilson added to Fordham Women’s Basketball Staff

Second-year Fordham Women’s Basketball Head Coach Bridgette Mitchell has announced the hiring of Brooke Alverson and Jared Wilson to her staff for the 2024-25 campaign.

Alverson will serve the Director of Women’s Basketball Administration and Branding, while Wilson will serve as the Rams’ Video Analyst.

Alverson arrives on the hill after spending the last two years at West Texas A&M University, most recently as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communication where she covered multiple National Championship teams, and numerous All-American and Olympic athletes.

“We are lucky to have Brooke join our Ramily!” Mitchell said. “She is a servant leader that is extremely hardworking and passionate about magnifying the light in others. She is a proven winner that comes with a wealth of knowledge in content creation and will really advance our platform.”

Previously, she coached for 15 years before making the jump to athletic communications. She was an assistant coach for the Lady Buffs’ Volleyball team that won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2022. In addition to her coaching roles, Alverson maintained the team social media pages and spearheaded marketing campaigns.

A member of the College Sports Communicators, Alverson received a grant in 2024 for the CSC Convention held annually to excel in social and marketing strategies. She brings experience as an assistant coach at Navarro College (2020-2022) and West Texas A&M University (2022-2023) as well as founder and Director of Pineywoods Volleyball Club (2017-2020).

“I’m incredibly excited about joining the Ramily and being a part of the program that Coach B is building here at Fordham,”Alverson said. “I’d like to thank President Tetlow, Athletic Director Ed Kull, and Coach B for this opportunity. I look forward to elevating Fordham Women’s Basketball within the community and highlighting the dedicated efforts of the team, both on and off the court, under Coach B’s leadership.”

Alverson played collegiate volleyball at Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi and earned her Bachelor of Arts in journalism with an emphasis in radio and television broadcasting. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Alverson currently resides in The Bronx.

Heading across the country from California to New York, Jared Wilson joins the Rams after spending the last two seasons working with the USC women’s basketball team, and has recently worked at the pro level with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.

“Jared is a rising star in the profession,” said Mitchell. “His experience at USC helped prepare him to take the video analytics of our program to new heights. He understands the game and can relay it through film in a way that will help our athletes see improvements. Excited to have him join the RAMILY!

Wilson spent the 2023-24 college basketball season with the Trojans, serving as the Interim Video Coordinator before eventually being promoted to assistant video coordinator during the season. Last season USC would post an impressive 29-6 mark overall, including a 13-5 record in the PAC-12, and claimed seven wins over Top-25 opponents en route to the 2024 PAC-12 Championship. The Trojans would then advance to the Elite-8, the furthest the team had advanced in the NCAA Tournament since 1984.

Since April of 2024, he has worked as a practice player and team attendant with the Los Angeles Sparks,  working with pro players on-court and assisting in scouting simulations. The 2022-23 season saw Wilson begin his tenure at USC as lead team manager and a practice player, where he would oversee the general operations of the team, setting up and staffing practices, and preparing equipment for team travel.

“I’m grateful to Coach B for the opportunity to join this wonderful program and the RAMily,” Wilson said. “Under her guidance, and with support from Athletic Director Kull and President Tetlow, I look forward to instilling the university’s values and principles that will extend well beyond our student-athletes’ time here.”

A Golden State native Wilson received his Associate Degree in Political Science from Orange Coast College in 2022, before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern California. Wilson currently resides in Yonkers.
