Abria Trice joins Lander women’s basketball as an assistant coach

Lander women’s basketball and Head Coach Stephanie Gehlhausen are pleased to announce Abria Trice as an assistant coach for the 2022-23 season.

Trice comes to Greenwood after spending the last four years at Greensboro College as the Assistant Coach for the Pride. During the 2021-22 season, Trice was a part of a staff that helped coach the Pride to a program-best 25-2 record with a conference record of 17-1, earning them the USA South Regular Season Title. Trice mentored two All-USA South First Team players and the Pride were in the top 10 nationally in scoring and scoring margin.  

Before coaching in Greensboro, Trice played internationally in Finland where she was the league’s third-leading scorer, earning player of the week honors once. Trice’s international career also took her to Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Mixed in her international career was a stint as Operations Manager with the Atlanta Dream in the Summer of 2019.

Before playing internationally, Trice was the head JV women’s basketball coach and assistant varsity women’s basketball coach at her alma mater, Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Ga. 

Trice graduated from East Carolina University in 2015 with her bachelor’s in Communications. As a player for the Pirates, Trice was one of the best offensive players on the team as she averaged 15 PPG, earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors and was named ECU’s Most Valuable Pirate. Trice was also named to the NCCSIA All-State Women’s Basketball Second Team. Before her time with the Pirates, Trice played for the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington where she earned CAA All-Tournament Honors.
