University at Albany Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Lee McElroy announced today that women’s basketball head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has signed a contract extension to remain the head coach through the 2017-18 season.

Abrahamson-Henderson begins her fourth season as the head coach of the Great Danes in the 2013-14 academic year. She ranks first in winning percentage (66-28, .702) and third with 66 wins in the women’s basketball program all-time coaching ranks after just three seasons. In her first season in 2010-11 she led UAlbany to its first winning season since transitioning to Division I in 1999. The Great Danes have since made two appearances in the NCAA tournament.
