Abby Kelly Named Assistant Coach For Bowdoin Women’s Basketball Team

The Bowdoin College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Abby Kelly as assistant coach for the Polar Bear women’s basketball team.

A 2019 graduate of Bowdoin, Kelly has been an assistant coach at Noble & Greenough School for the last three years and will join new head coach Megan Phelps in her first year at the helm of the Polar Bears.

One of the most decorated players in program history, Kelly was the 2019 NESCAC Player of the Year, a First Team All-American and captain for Bowdoin during the 2018-19 campaign, and helped lead the Polar Bears to consecutive NCAA Division III title games in her junior and senior seasons. She finished her collegiate career seventh all-time at Bowdoin with 1,272 points and fourth in program history with 145 three-pointers. She was named the Athletic Department’s Lucy Shulman award winner as a senior, recognizing the top female athlete at the school.

A member of the Mohawk Tribe, Kelly grew up on St. Regis Mohawk Reservation in Akwesasne, N.Y., and attended high school at Salmon River (N.Y.) before graduating from Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire prior to Bowdoin.
