Stevens Institute of Technology Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Russell Rogers announced Camille McPherson as the seventh head coach of the women’s basketball program on Tuesday.
McPherson arrives on Castle Point after five seasons leading Capital University, where she guided the Comets to a 71-50 record and four consecutive winning seasons. Capital earned consecutive appearances in the Ohio Athletic Conference semifinals during her tenure, while 12 student-athletes received All-OAC recognition and 27 were named Academic All-OAC.

Equally important, she demonstrated a genuine commitment to helping student-athletes thrive academically, athletically, and personally. Capital finished the 2025-26 season with a 16-10 record after opening the campaign with eight consecutive victories for the second straight year. Under McPherson’s guidance, Samaree Perkins was named the OAC Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Region recognition from D3hoops.com and received All-America honors from both D3hoops.com and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. Perkins was also selected as a finalist for the Jostens Trophy.
The Comets posted a 20-7 record in 2024-25, reaching the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Four student-athletes earned All-OAC recognition that year, highlighted by Bri O’Connor becoming the first player in program history to be named both the conference’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. O’Connor and Perkins received D3hoops.com All-Region honors, while O’Connor was also named a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American.

After assuming leadership of the program during the 2021-22 season, McPherson directed an immediate turnaround. Capital improved to 13-12 during her first full season in 2022-23 after finishing 5-20 the previous year. O’Connor received First Team All-OAC and D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region honors, while Perkins was selected as the OAC Freshman of the Year.
Before joining Capital as an assistant coach in 2021, McPherson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Allegheny College. Her responsibilities also included coordinating recruiting efforts, overseeing the program’s social media presence and organizing community-service initiatives.
A native of West Orange, New Jersey, McPherson enjoyed a decorated playing career at Moravian College. A two-year captain, she helped the Greyhounds reach the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship and concluded her career with 1,427 points and 560 rebounds. McPherson was a three-time First Team All-Landmark Conference selection, a two-time D3hoops.com All-Region honoree and a two-time honorable mention All-American. She was also named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American in 2017 and the Moravian Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
McPherson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Moravian and later served as a graduate assistant in the institution’s Center for Career and Civic Engagement where she earned her MBA in 2019. She is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, WeCOACH, Women Leaders in Sports, and Latinx en Athletics.
