General Position Summary: Serving as a key member of the women’s basketball program at St. Ambrose University (SAU), the Assistant Coach will support a variety of administrative and basketball operations while playing an active role in the continued growth of the program.

Compensation

Stipend provided, free housing, and opportunities for additional compensation through summer camps and fundraising events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative functions including coordination of team meals, team travel, gameday logistics, expense reports, public relations, and study hall monitoring.
  • Involves some overnight and weekend trips.
  • Manage practice setup and assist on the court during practices and training sessions.
  • Assist the Head Coach with film review, game planning, scouting, and data analysis.
  • Assist with recruiting for the women’s basketball program.
  • Coordinate on-campus recruiting visits and recruiting database management.
  • Assist with coordination and execution of summer camps.
  • Assist with alumni engagement and events.
  • Supervise student workers/managers.
  • Assist with player development and communicate player progress to the Head Coach.
  • Drive to team, recruiting, and other program-related events as needed.
  • Abide by rules and guidelines listed in the staff handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Working knowledge of the game of basketball; playing experience preferred but not required.
  • Ambition to coach basketball on the collegiate level.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment including strong supervisory skills.
  • Professional, self-motivated, organized, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment.

  • Lead individual and small-group player development workouts.
  • Prepare scouting reports and opponent game plans.
