Description:

The Athletics and Wellness Department seeks an experienced, energetic, and highly motivated Head Women’s Basketball Coach to lead and elevate the women’s basketball program into consistent contention within the NJCAA Region XXI Conference. This is an outstanding opportunity for a passionate coach committed to building a highly competitive collegiate program through strong recruiting, player development, strategic leadership, and culture building.

The College is committed to supporting competitive success and provides institutional resources to assist in recruiting, student-athlete development, and overall program growth. The department is seeking a coach with the vision, work ethic, and leadership ability to maximize the program’s potential and build a championship-level culture.

The Head Women’s Basketball Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the program, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, identify, and retain quality student-athletes capable of succeeding academically and competitively at the NJCAA level.
  • Build and maintain a competitive roster aligned with departmental and NJCAA roster expectations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive practice plans focused on skill development, conditioning, team systems, discipline, and player accountability.
  • Serve as the program’s primary strategist for game preparation, scouting, opponent analysis, and in-game adjustments.
  • Foster a disciplined, positive, and competitive team culture emphasizing accountability, leadership, sportsmanship, and academic achievement.
  • Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress, attendance, retention, and graduation success.
  • Organize and oversee all team operations including scheduling, travel coordination, equipment management, team communication, and game administration.
  • Establish and maintain strong recruiting pipelines with high school, prep school, AAU, and community basketball programs locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Engage in year-round recruiting efforts to identify and attract impact student-athletes capable of helping the program compete for conference championships.
  • Promote the program through community engagement, youth outreach, camps, clinics, and on-campus recruiting events.
  • Collaborate effectively with athletic department staff, faculty, academic advisors, athletic trainers, and campus leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all NJCAA, Region XXI, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to positively represent the College at all times.
  • Attend departmental meetings, recruiting events, professional development opportunities, and athletic department functions as assigned.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and support staff, if applicable.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful basketball coaching experience at the collegiate, prep school, high school varsity, AAU, or elite club level.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining student-athletes.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive systems, player development, conditioning, scouting, and game strategy.
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain a competitive athletic culture.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and campus community.
  • Commitment to student-athlete academic success, personal growth, and character development.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • CPR/AED certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Collegiate coaching experience at the NJCAA, NCAA, or NAIA level.
  • Previous head coaching experience with a demonstrated record of competitive success.
  • Experience recruiting within New England and Northeast basketball networks.
  • Collegiate playing experience preferred.
