The Graduate Assistant for Women’s Basketball at Texas A&M–Kingsville Javelinas supports the daily operations of a competitive NCAA Division II program. This position provides hands-on experience in coaching, recruiting, player development, and program administration while pursuing a graduate degree at Texas A&M–Kingsville.
The successful candidate will contribute to a championship-driven culture while upholding the core values of the Javelina Women’s Basketball program: toughness, discipline, accountability, and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with practice planning, skill development, and on-court instruction
- Conduct individual workouts and support player development plans
- Break down film and assist with scouting reports using platforms such as Synergy
- Provide on-court support during practices (rebounding, passing, drills, etc.)
- Assist with recruiting efforts, including on-campus visits and prospect evaluation
- Monitor and support student-athlete academic progress in collaboration with academic services • Assist with team travel coordination and daily basketball operations
- Create and manage social media content to enhance program visibility and recruiting efforts
- Design graphics and video content using Photoshop or similar platforms
- Plan, organize, and execute summer camps and clinics
- Complete administrative tasks including office organization, printing, mailing, and logistics
- Represent the program with professionalism and uphold the standards of NCAA Division II and the university
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance into a graduate program at Texas A&M University–Kingsville
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous playing or coaching experience at the NCAA Division I or II level
- Experience working with specific position groups (guards or posts)
- Familiarity with Synergy or other basketball analytics platforms
- Experience with social media content creation, video editing, and digital branding
- Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate coaching or athletic administration
