Ari Wideman, the head women’s basketball coach at California State University, Bakersfield, has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to a report from Bakersfield.com. Wideman, who is in her second season leading the program, did not coach the team in its final road game of the year against California State University, Northridge.

“I can confirm that women’s basketball head coach Ari Wideman is on paid administrative leave. Because this is a personnel matter, I can’t say more,” Jennifer Self, senior director of strategic communications for CSUB’s Office of the President, wrote in an email.

Associate head coach Ray Alvarado will lead the Roadrunners for the remainder of the season, which concludes Saturday at home against California Polytechnic State University. Bakersfield went 2–28 (2–18 Big West) last season and dropped to 7–22 (2–17 Big West) this year following Thursday’s loss at Northridge.
