Taylor Soule, a former All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection at Virginia Tech under head coach Kenny Brooks, and Jake Spencer, a veteran content creator, will join the University of Kentucky women’s basketball staff, it was announced by Brooks on Monday.
Soule, who played an instrumental role on Brooks’ Virginia Tech team that won the ACC Tournament Title and competed in the Final Four in 2022-23, will serve as a program assistant for the Wildcats.
Soule, who was drafted as the 28th overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, is coming off a professional career that was paused due to an injury. Her time on the professional circuit included the Chicago Sky (2023), San Martino Di Lupari in Italy (Fall 2023), Minnesota Lynx (2024) and MB Zaglebie Sosnowiec in Poland (2024-25).
Before that, she played and started all 36 games for Virginia Tech in 2022-23, averaging 10.9 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game to help her team to a 31-5 overall record and be named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List, Wooden Award Watch List, All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Tournament Second Team. Prior to her time in Blacksburg, she was a four-year letterwinner at Boston College, where she eclipsed 1,500 career points and earned three more All-ACC honors during her Eagles career from 2018-19 to 2021-22.
Spencer, who has experience creating multimedia content, brand identities and user-centric digital products, will join the program as the director of creative content. Working primarily in the tech and digital spaces, while also doing contract work, Spencer is skilled in visual storytelling, from motion graphics and video to UI/UX and marketing campaigns, across all platforms.
Spencer graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in digital media and design and integrated strategic communication in 2021. Spencer is married to Natalie, and the two of them have one daughter Lillie.
