Monterika Warren is no longer serving as the head women’s basketball coach at Division II Johnson C. Smith University (CIAA). Assistant coach Taisha Murphy has stepped in as the interim replacement.
Warren was appointed head coach in July 2023 after previously working on the staff at Austin Peay. In her first season, she led the Bulls to a 14-13 overall record (10-8 CIAA). This season, the team has struggled, currently standing at 6-12 (2-8 CIAA).
Murphy secured her first win in her new role as JCSU defeated Winston-Salem State 58-53 last night. Before joining JCSU as an assistant, she served as the head coach at NJCAA Wake Tech.
A national search for the next head coach is expected to take place after the season concludes.
