Adrian College Athletic Director, Craig Rainey, announced the hiring of Sam Miller as head coach of the Adrian College women’s basketball team. Miller returns to Adrian College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing in 2010. After graduating from Adrian, Miller went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Coaching Sport Performance from Western Michigan University.
“We are very happy to welcome Coach Miller back to Adrian College,” Rainey said. “Miller’s experience in collegiate coaching at the NCAA Division I level is something we are excited to have. We love that Coach Miller has a connection to Adrian College and had a great experience as a student-athlete where he wanted to return home. We are looking forward to future of our women’s basketball program.”
During his time at Adrian College, Miller was a member of the men’s basketball team from 2006-08. Miller’s wife, Jennifer Perrin, was a member of the women’s basketball team from 2006-10.
“My family and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to Adrian College to lead the women’s basketball program,” said Miller. “As alumni of the college, to say that my wife and I feel pride in returning to AC is a massive understatement. We truly love this place, and most everything we have together can be attributed to the foundation and support that AC affords all of its students, both in their time on campus and as graduates.”
Coach Miller’s recently served as assistant coach and the Director of Scouting & Video Operations for the University of North Carolina women’s basketball team. During his time at North Carolina from 2021-23, the UNC women’s basketball team combined for a record of 47-18 and made two trips to the NCAA Tournament including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2022. Prior to UNC, Miller was the assistant coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Duke University from 2017-20 after spending the 2016-17 season as the Video Coordinator. While at Duke, the team combined for a record of 85-42 during his four seasons and made a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament with a Sweet 16 spot in 2018.
Miller spent some of his early coaching career at Kalamazoo College where he was an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team after spending a season with the New York Knicks NBA G League affiliate, the Erie Bayhawks. Before the G League, Miller served for two seasons as a Graduate Assistant for the men’s basketball team at Western Michigan where he was the Manager & Video Coordinator after spending a summer as a Player Development Assistant for Michigan State University men’s basketball.

We look forward to building a culture of togetherness, positivity, and an appreciation for the process required to achieve our goals.”
Coach Miller will start his duties as head coach in July where he will begin to prepare for the 2024-25 women’s basketball season.
