Earlier this week, WHoopDirt shared the news that D2 Western Oregon University had cancelled the remainder of their women’s basketball season due to “internal team challenges.” The Wolves were 10-13 (3-11 GNAC) at the time of the shut down.
While it is still unknown what exactly the “internal team challenges” were, the Statesman Journal is reporting that the women’s basketball staff has been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is underway. The staff, which includes head coach Jessica Peatross, and assistant coach DJ Marlow, are both in their first year at WOU. They had come to Western Oregon together from Salem University (WVa), where they served in similar roles during the 2022-23 season.
“An investigation has begun into these matters and we cannot comment on ongoing investigations,” the university said in a statement according to the report.
More on this story as it continues to develop.
