Colsten Thompson was promoted to the director of player development and recruiting operations, head women’s basketball coach Kristy Curry announced. Thompson’s promotion comes after serving a year with the Crimson Tide as the director of recruiting operations and creative content during the 2022-23 season.
As a part of his new responsibilities, Thompson will be involved in scouting, film breakdown, individual workouts and practices, and player development. Additionally, he will be designated as an off-campus recruiter for the 2023-24 season along with his previous recruiting operations responsibilities.
Colsten Thompson Bio
- Joined the Crimson Tide staff in August of 2022 and made immediate impact to the program
- Helped UA reach the 2023 NCAA Tournament off of a 20-win season
- Assisted with ESPNW’s No. 12 nationally ranked recruiting class for the early signing period
- Prior to Alabama, served as an assistant coach for the Lipscomb women’s basketball team
- In 2020-21, worked as a graduate assistant for Louisiana Tech
- Two-year student assistant with the University of Alabama-Huntsville, graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports fitness and management
- Earned a master’s in business administration from Louisiana Tech (2022)
