Tusculum University has named Lindsey Roddy assistant women’s basketball coach, head coach Meagan Price announced.
Roddy comes to Tusculum after serving as an assistant coach at William Blount High School during the 2021-22 season. Prior to William Blount, Roddy was a graduate assistant coach at Lee University following a four-year career with the Flames from 2016-2020.
“I am so blessed and excited for this opportunity to impact student-athletes on and off the court,” said Roddy. “I can’t wait to get started with this championship-caliber staff and players.”
The Maryville, Tennessee native was a four-year starter at Lee, finishing her career with 1,086 points in 125 games, including 111 starts (8.7 points per game). A 5-7 guard, Roddy connected on 114 three-pointers for the Flames and also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game for her career. Roddy averaged at least eight points per game in all four seasons of her Lee career, including 9.3 points per game as a senior.
During Roddy’s four seasons, the Flames compiled a 95-30 record and made four trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament, including a first-round win over North Alabama in 2018. Lee would also make an NCAA Tournament appearance while Roddy was a graduate assistant in 2021.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Lindsey join our staff,” said Price, who will begin her third season as head coach. “Her knowledge of the game and experience in the NCAA Tournament as both a student-athlete and coach proves her ability to help our program to the next level. She is a proven winner on and off the floor.”
Roddy served as an assistant coach at her alma mater William Blount last season after coaching at the elementary school level during the 2020-21 season. She was also an AAU assistant coach for two years and has organized and planned basketball camps for all ages. At William Blount, Roddy was an All-District player and reached 1,000 career points.
Roddy graduated from Lee in May 2020 with a bachelor of science degree in health and wellness education K-12. She was a member of the Gulf South Conference Honor Roll during her playing career. Roddy earned a master of science degree in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University in January, 2021.
Tusculum, which finished 12-17 overall and 10-14 in the South Atlantic Conference during the 2021-22 season, will open its 2022-23 campaign on Friday, November 11 against Mount Olive in the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge in Salisbury, North Carolina.
