Lehigh women’s basketball head coach Addie Micir announced the completion of her coaching staff ahead of the 2022-23 season by the hiring of Kaitlyn Lewis as assistant coach. No stranger to the Patriot League, the former four-year guard for American spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Scranton.
“I’m very excited to announce Kaitlyn as the final addition to our staff,” said Micir. “Kait comes to us well-prepared having spent three years at Scranton where she was an integral part of their championship and Sweet 16 caliber teams. She’s been immersed in all facets of the job and we are thrilled to have a go-getter like her in our program.
“Having navigated through the Patriot League as a student-athlete, Kait was a champion at American University and her coaching savvy, understanding of the high academic and competitive athletics balance and energetic personality will make her an asset to our staff and someone with whom our players will really connect with.”
She joins Micir, Glenn Rigney, Kaitlyn Cresencia and Mike Smith on the staff for the upcoming season.

During the 2021-22 season, Lewis played a big role in leading Scranton to a 27-3 overall record, a perfect 14-0 mark in Landmark Conference play and a seventh straight Landmark title with a 68-51 win over Catholic in the championship game. The Lady Royals picked up two victories in the NCAA Tournament, qualifying for the Sweet 16 for the sixth time in eight years. Under Lewis’ guidance, Abby Anderson and Bridget Monaghan were named All-Americans by WBCA while the former also earned the honor from D3hoops.com. Lewis was named a Thirty Under 30 honoree from the WBCA.
In 2020-21, she helped coach the Lady Royals to their sixth straight Landmark Conference Championship following a shortened regular season in which Scranton went 7-1 overall and defeated Catholic, 56-55 in the title game.
Lewis helped guide the Lady Royals to a fifth straight Landmark Conference crown in 2019-20 with a 63-42 victory over Catholic. Scranton went 24-4 (12-2 Landmark) during the regular season including a 12-game winning streak from Jan. 22-Feb. 29.
Lewis joined the Lady Royals program fresh off the heels of finishing up her own athletic career at American, where she was a vital member of the Eagles’ women’s basketball program in four seasons.
In Lewis’ senior season, she helped American register a 22-11 overall mark, as the Eagles finished 16-2 in the Patriot League. For their efforts, American earned a bid into the Women’s NIT as Lewis served as the team’s captain throughout the season.
As one of the team captains in 2017-18, Lewis helped the lead the Eagles to the Patriot League championship and a bid into the NCAA Tournament. AU went 26-7 during Lewis’ junior campaign.
In four seasons, Lewis logged playing time in 115 games, starting 67 times at guard. In 2018-19, she started 30 games for American, averaging 11.9 points a game, while dishing out 3.4 assists per contest, totaling 101 assists for the season. In her senior season, Lewis went into double-figures eight times, including a career-best 24-point performance against Ohio.
Off the court, Lewis went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from American this past May, earning a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice during her career (2017-18 and 2018-19). She also took part in the American University Elite Camp as a counselor for three years (2016-18) as well.
In her prep career at North Pocono, Lewis ended her basketball career as the school’s all-time leading scorer, ending with 1,337 points, while also breaking the school’s single-season scoring record (562 points). A four-time Lackawanna League All-Star, Lewis was the District 2 MVP in her senior season of 2015, on her way to earning PA All-State accolades at Class AAA. She was also a six-time state qualifier in the 800 and 400 meters in track and field.
