UC Santa Barbara Women’s Basketball Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson has been signed to a contract extension through 2025, UCSB Athletics announced this week.

UC Santa Barbara hired Bonnie Henrickson as its Head Women’s Basketball Coach on Apr. 23, 2015. She will enter her seventh season with the program after serving the previous 11 years as the Head Coach at Kansas. Henrickson led the Gauchos to a 7-9 finish in conference play in the 2020-21 season. In the first round of the Big West Women’s Basketball Tournament, UCSB nearly upset second-seeded UC Irvine. The Gauchos matched the program record for most three-pointers in a single game in their 77-63 win over CSU Bakersfield and broke it in their season-ending loss to UC Irvine, scoring 18 three-pointers.
In the 2019-20 season, UCSB earned the second seed at the Big West Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament on the back of five wins in the final six games of the regular season to boost the Gauchos to a 9-7 record in conference play. The seed was its highest since the 2010-11 campaign, when it shared its 14th regular season crown with Cal Poly but was the second-seeded team in the 2011 Big West Tournament. Freshman center Ila Lane became Henrickson’s first student-athlete at UCSB to earn AP All-American honors after a sensational debut year.
In her third year with the team in 2017-18, the Gauchos posted a 12-17 record overall with a 9-7 showing in the Big West. Following a slow start to the season, UCSB got hot as it neared the start of conference play, embarking on a season-best five game win streak and going 11-6 over a two-month span. Drew Edelman would become the first student-athlete to be named All-Big West First Team since 2013.
In 2016-17, Henrickson led UCSB to the Big West Tournament Championship game, falling just one point shy of an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Gauchos went 16-16 during the regular season and finished 9-7 in conference play, its most wins in the Big West since the 2010-11 season, while finishing fourth in the standings.
