Tyler Morris Named Judson’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Judson University has announced the hiring of Tyler Morris as the 10th Head Women’s Basketball Coach in program history. Morris brings a wealth of experience to the program, as he has coached basketball for over 17 years at the collegiate and high school levels.

“Thank you to Dr. Gene Crume, Dr. Nikki Fennern, Samantha Collins, and the rest of the Judson University administration for this opportunity,” said Morris. “I will work tirelessly to recruit quality athletes that will represent Judson in a positive manner. I want to help them grow in their faith, as well as students, as competitors, and as people. I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity, and I cannot wait to begin.”

Morris was most recently the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at another NAIA school, Goshen College, where he helped the Maple Leafs qualify for the conference tournament for the first time since the 2016-2017 season. Prior to Goshen, Morris served as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at UWGB-Marinette for the 2019-2020 year. His other college coaching experience was being the assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at NCAA Division-III Central College in Pella, Iowa for the 2013-2014 season.

He was successful in the high school ranks as a head coach prior to coaching collegiately. In 2009 and 2010, Morris led Ellsworth (MN) High School Boys’ program to two Minnesota State Final Fours where his teams finished as the runners-up in 2009 and the third-place team in the state in 2010. He was named the Minnesota 3A Region Coach of the Year in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

“I am very happy to welcome Coach Morris to the Judson community,” stated Dr. Nikki Fennern, Executive Vice President. “Coach Morris brings a tremendous work ethic and showed a commitment to advancing the program and helping to grow our scholar-athletes during the interview process. I look forward to seeing the program and our student-athletes achieve holistic success under his leadership.”

Morris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 and was an elementary school teacher for eight years. The Judson University community welcomes Morris and his family.
