Samantha Brenner, previously the associate head coach at the University of Texas – Permian Basin, and Harlyn Wyatt, previously a graduate assistant at the University of Nevada, will join the Brown University women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach and operations coordinator respectively, head coach Monique LeBlanc announced on Monday.
The associate head coach at UT Permian Basin from 2018-21, Brenner held duties around recruiting, scouting, post development, academics, and community service. In 2020-21, she helped the team tally its most Lone Star Conference wins in program history, and in 2019-20 she helped the team rank seventh in Division II in total steals. During her time at UTPB, she coached both All-Conference and All-Freshman Team selections.
Prior to UTPB, Brenner served as an assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University from 2016-18 with duties including recruiting, scouting, post development, academics, community service and marketing. She began her collegiate coaching career as a student assistant coach at Adelphi University in 2015-16.
As a student-athlete, Brenner competed at Adelphi from 2014-16 after playing at the University of Vermont from 2012-14. At Adelphi, she helped the team post a 46-16 record over her two seasons, which included a Northeast 10 title and an NCAA tournament appearance. Brenner earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Adelphi in 2016 and an MBA from Franklin Pierce in 2018.
Wyatt comes to Brown after acting as a graduate assistant at the University of Nevada from 2019-21 where she assisted with video coordination, scouting, recruiting, community service, and player development. Wyatt also worked with the athletic communications team at Nevada, helping to coordinate social media content. In April 2019, Wyatt participated in the WBCA’s “So You Want to be a Coach” program.
As a student-athlete, Wyatt played at Tulane University from 2015-19, serving the team as a two-year captain and a SAAC representative. An American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection, she helped Tulane make back-to-back appearances in the WNIT in 2016 and 2017.
Wyatt earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Tulane in 2019 and gained a master’s degree in higher education administration from Nevada in 2021.
