Parkside Athletics, along with Parkside Women’s Basketball, is pleased to announce Kiara Moses as the Graduate Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball. Moses is a 2020 graduate from Southern Indiana after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
An Urbana, Illinois native, Moses player her high school basketball at Urbana High School. Following high school, she attended Kankakee Community College, where she played for two years. While at KCC, Kiara helped guide the Cavaliers to two Regional Championships and National Tournament appearances. In her sophomore season, she finished 11th in the country with 152 assists and fourth in the country with 131 steals. She was named to the All-Region IV Team and All-Region IV Tournament Team, and led the Cavaliers to a 23-9 record.
“We are excited to announce the addition of Kiara to our program,” said head coach Jen Conely. “As a former DII student-athlete in this region, she knows what it takes to be successful and compete at a high level. I was really impressed with her energy and enthusiasm for coaching, as well as her excitement in creating a fantastic experience for our student-athletes. We are excited to have her join our staff and look forward to working with her!”
After her two years at Kankakee, Moses committed to Arkansas Tech University, where she played during the 2018-19 season. At Arkansas Tech, she appeared in 31 games and scored a season-high 16 points against Harding, including a buzzer-beating game winner.
After a year at Arkansas Tech, Moses took her talents to Southern Indiana for her senior season. She made a big impact on and off the court for the Screaming Eagles. Off the court, Kiara collected Academic All-GLVC honors, and then on the court she started all 27 of USI’s games, averaging 6.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. She scored a career-high 21 points in USI’s 79-70 win over Missouri S&T and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in four different games.
“I’m super excited and blessed to be accepted as a part of this exceptional basketball program,” Moses said. “I hope that I can exceed every expectation and I am looking forward to being a part of one of the toughest conferences in the Midwest. Go Rangers!”
