North Dakota State women’s basketball head coach Jory Collins has named Brooke Costley an assistant coach.
Costley spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Emporia State. Prior to her time as a graduate assistant, Costley spent two seasons as a student assistant coach at Emporia State after her playing career was cut short due to injury after two years. Costley also spent two years as a coach in the Missouri Phenom AAU program.
“Brooke has both played for and coached with me,” Collins said. “When her playing career was cut short we began getting her prepared for a coaching career right away. She comes from a great basketball family. She will make an impact in all facets of our program. Her understanding of our culture and the nuances of what we want to do will accelerate the learning curve.”
During her time at Emporia, she was a part of four MIAA Tournament Championship teams and five teams that played in the NCAA Tournament. Four of those trips resulted in play in the Sweet 16, with the 2014-15 team advancing to the Final Four.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Bison family and work alongside Jory Collins,” Costley said. “I’m excited to help him implement his vision for the program. I have always had a great deal of respect for Jory and his coaching philosophy. I am confident in the direction the program is headed and I’m excited to build the program in the right direction.”
Costley is a native of Mexico, Mo.
