South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit is pleased to announce the promotion of Jason Jeschke to associate head coach of the Coyotes.
Jeschke joined the Coyotes last season after three years as the head coach of Oklahoma Wesleyan. In his first season at USD, the Coyotes compiled a 29-7 record, swept the Summit League regular season and advanced to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals.
“Jason has been an incredible asset to our program,” said Plitzuweit. “He has worked diligently to assist us in developing our players on and off the court as he plays a vital role in every single aspect of our program. Jason’s prior head coaching experience has been very valuable for the Coyotes and we are thrilled to have elevated him to our associate head coach position.”
Jeschke’s duties at South Dakota include providing detailed opponent scouting reports, player development, scheduling, in-game coaching, practice planning and execution, recruiting, camps and clinics.
Jeschke worked with three all-Summit League players in his first season, including 2018 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Jasmine Trimboli, two-time all-league first team pick Allison Arens and all-league first team player Ciara Duffy.
“It has been amazing to be a part of the USD women’s basketball program,” said Jeschke. “I want to thank Coach Plitzuweit for naming me associate head coach – it is a humbling honor. My heart is in South Dakota and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a special University and community. I am continuing to learn from Coach P daily and I feel that our program has a very exciting future!”
South Dakota won the 2017-18 Summit League regular season title with a 14-0 record, becoming the first Summit League champion to go undefeated in league play in 24 years. The Coyotes return 10 players from last year’s roster.
