Chad Meadors has been named as the fourth head coach of the Northwest Christian University women’s basketball team. Meadors replaces Heath Alexander who departed in April to join the staff at the University of Cincinnati.
Meadors heads to Eugene from Longview, Washington where he spent the past 11 seasons as the head women’s coach at Lower Columbia College. During his tenure, the Red Devils averaged over 20 wins per season including a .841 winning percentage in league games. and won five NWAC West Division championships.
“I cannot thank NCU enough for the opportunity to lead the Beacon women’s basketball team,” said Coach Meadors. “Specifically, I would like to thank President Womack, Vice President Michael Fuller, and Athletic Director Corey Anderson for this tremendous opportunity. It is always the people that make a place special and NCU’s vision has positioned the college for sustained greatness academically and athletically and I am grateful and excited to be part of their vision.”
LCC teams won five NWAC West Division championships and Meadors was a four-time NWAC Coach of the Year during his tenure. He coached 23 All-Region players including two Player of the Year winners. He also coached Katerina Brejchova, NCU’s 2018 First-Team All-CCC Forward.
Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “Chad brings in a level of experience and administration to our women’s basketball program as well as athletic department that will enable us to continue to grow in the trajectory that we are already headed. The foundation is rock solid thanks to Heath, his coaches and team that have poured their efforts in for the past four years. There is still room for growth, however, and we are all excited to have Coach Meadors to provide the leadership for this coming team and program.”
Meadors, who will also assume an administrative role within the athletic department, will begin recruitment and planning activities immediate and will arrive on the NCU campus in June.
