The Assistant Coach, Women’s Basketball reports to the Head Coach, Women’s Basketball and is responsible for providing assistance to creating and maintaining a successful Women’s Basketball Program.
Essential Duties:
- In collaboration with the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, manage all aspects of the College’s Women’s Basketball program in compliance with all NJCAA, OCCAC, and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College rules and regulations.
- Coach and supervise players during practices, contests and trips to ensure that student athletes and staff represent the College in a positive manner.
- Serve as a role model in personal conduct, sportsmanship and behavior for student athletes, during contests, practices, and other events on campus and off campus by exemplifying the highest standards or leadership, professionalism and mature conduct at all times.
- Assist the Women’s Head Basketball Coach in efforts to recruit outstanding student athletes in order to develop a team that is competitive within the NJCAA and OCCAC.
- Assist the Women’s Basketball Head Coach in preparing and executing practice and game plans and develop and administer weight training, cardiovascular, and athletic improvement programs for team members keeping health and safety at forefront.
- Meet all the performance standards and expectations of the Women’s Basketball Head Coach including preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, attending meetings and conferences, and collaborating with other members of the department, or the College faculty and staff.
- Understand, support and exemplify the mission and values of the College.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- One year of basketball coaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of coaching principles and maintaining supportive and professional relationships with student athletes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Education or related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience teaching or advising students or student athletes.
- Experience with fund-raising for athletics.
- Coaching experience at the post-secondary education level or experience working in a community college athletic department.

- High degree of emotional intelligence and professional attitude in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the athletic staff along with a commitment to coaching and mentoring student-athletes.
- Ability to objectively evaluate physical performance and mental capabilities related to the participation in an Athletic Program.
- Demonstrated integrity and ability to interact supportively with players while extracting optimum achievement.
- Demonstrated ability to prevent and resolve interpersonal and professional conflicts and problems.
- Ability to exercise good judgement, impulse and emotional control, during highly stressful situations, including ability to consider and implement the least extreme method of resolving conflict when possible.
- Commitment to exemplifying, articulating, and enforcing all College policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
