Description:

Coach and direct all aspects of a women’s basketball program.
Participate in the organization and implementation of recruitment activities for high school students including college fairs and campus visits/tours; conduct new student orientation sessions.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

-Administer all facets of a women’s basketball intercollegiate athletic program relating to organization of practice sessions, management and preparation of game day activities, management of budget, evaluation of players and recruitment of student athlete
-In collaboration with the Athletic Director, oversee the academic performance of student athletes and ensure adherence to eligibility guideline established by the TJCAA and the NJCAA
-Assist the Athletic Director with fund-raising efforts for the athletics department; establish annual fundraising projects to supplement the Athletic budget
-Assist the Athletic Director in the selection of volunteer/assistant coaching staff; supervise volunteer/assistant coaches; monitor upkeep of the athletic facility
-Promote, support, and participate in college wide student recruitment and retention efforts
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

-Educaiton: Bachelor’s degree.
-Experience: Successful coaching and recruiting experience at the women’s basketball intercollegiate/interscholastic level.

One year work experience involving college recruiting, public relations, customer service, or marketing. Must have a valid TN or GA drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

Women’s head coaching experience at the JUCO/NJCAA/TJCAA level

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics

-Knowledge: Sports knowledge of and implementation of positive and successful coaching strategies;
-Knowledge of college admissions procedures, interests and marketing appeal of high school students; all aspects of an intercollegiate sports program
-Skills: Skills in written and oral communication consistent with providing instruction and information including persuasive public speaking; customer service; time management; interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
-Ability: Ability to recruit student athletes; to develop and implement positive and successful coaching strategies; to instruct and demonstrate methods and techniques of playing college level women’s basketball; Ability to create marketing information appropriate for high school recruitment of students as well as student athlete; to maintain statistical records; to organize various materials, schedules, etc; to set up displays of informational materials; to maintain confidentiality; to effectively direct and counsel students regarding academic decisions; to oversee students in academic and non-academic environment.
