Butkovsky Named Assistant at Clarkson

The Clarkson University Athletic Department announced the addition of Brooke Butkovsky to the Golden Knights’ Women’s Basketball coaching staff for the 2015-16 season, where she will serve as the team’s top assistant coach.

Butkovsky, a 2015 graduate of Clarkson University with a degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was a four-year standout in basketball for the Golden Knights and also played for three seasons as a key reserve for the Green and Gold’s volleyball program. She will continue her education at Clarkson by taking classes in the school’s MBA program.

Butkovsky was a Liberty League All-Rookie team member in 2011-12, averaging 9.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while leading the conference in field goal percentage (55.5%) that same season. Countless injuries allowed her to compete in just 39 games over the course of her final three seasons, but she finished her career with 406 points, 353 rebounds, 83 steals, 48 blocks and 48 assists in 60 total games as the team emerged into a playoff participant during her senior season. On the volleyball court, Butkovsky was a vocal leader who played in 52 sets (26 matches) in three years which resulted in back-to-back-to-back Liberty League titles and NCAA Quarterfinals appearances. She recorded 41 kills and 21 blocks over the course of those 52 sets with the team producing a 104-18 record overall.

At the annual Clarkson Athletic Awards Ceremony in 2015, Butkovsky also came away with one of the top individual honors with her selection as the year’s Ed Sayer Memorial award winner. The Ed Sayer award is an honor that recognizes an individual that exemplifies the former Clarkson swimmer’s spirit in exhibiting compassion for their teammates, an indelible work ethic, a passion for their sport, and an appreciation of the intricacies and importance of teamwork.
