West Virginia Wesleyan Adds Assistant

The West Virginia Wesleyan College Lady Bobcat Women’s Basketball program announced the hiring of new full-time assistant women’s basketball coach Madison Martin.

Martin attended Nicholas County High School in Summersville, W. Va. and played four years of varsity basketball before signing to play at Glenville State College.

While at Glenville from 2011-2015, Martin played all four years on the women’s basketball team. She participated in two conference championship games and two regional tournaments. Martin played on the first-ever team to win the Mountain East Conference post-season and regular season championships.

Martin also was a member of the track and field team for two years at Glenville.

Martin is very excited about accepting her first college coaching opportunity and joining the Lady Bobcat staff.

“Basketball has been a passion of mine for almost 15 years now, and being given the opportunity to coach at a prestigious Division II college is more than I could wish for,” Martin said.  “I have volunteered multiple summers to coach my former high school team, along with helping at basketball camps and skills camps. Now that I get to continue this as an actual career, it’s amazing.”

Wesleyan head coach Michael Bari feels that Martin is the right fit at the right time for his growing program. “I think she will be terrific,” Bari said. “Madison has the energy, enthusiasm and professionalism that will give us exactly what we need. We are expected great thing form her this season, I couldn’t be happy to have her on board.”

Martin is the daughter of Tony and Robin Martin of Canvas, W. Va.

She has two siblings, younger sister to Morgan Simmons of Salisbury, Md. and older sister to incoming Wesleyan freshman Mykenzie Martin, of Canvas, W. Va.
